Last year's race

See what race morning looks like

Costumed dogs, big smiles, and a whole community showing up for Ohio service dogs. This is a look back at the 2025 Howl-o-ween Paws for a Cause — and a preview of what you're signing up for on November 1.

What to expect

It is part 5K, part costume party, part fall festival on the water. Come for the run, stay for the tricks and treats — and know that the whole morning puts trained service dogs in the hands of people who need them.

Doggy costume contest

Hot dogs, tiny dragons, dogs dressed as their humans — bring your best and strut the lakefront. Prizes for the crowd favorites.

Bob for apples

A classic fall soaker. Roll up your sleeves, dunk your head, and let your dog judge you for it.

Basket raffle

Themed baskets donated by local businesses and supporters. Grab tickets at check-in — every dollar goes straight to training dogs.

Tricks & treats

Treats for the two-legged and four-legged alike, photo ops, and a lakeside morning built for hanging around after you finish.

Free event t-shirt

Every registration includes a Howl-o-ween Paws for a Cause t-shirt. Wear it proudly — it means you helped place a service dog.

Where your registration goes

The American Service Dog Foundation rescues dogs from Ohio shelters — and also trains personally donated dogs that pass the same professional evaluation. We fund the full cost of professional training, then place those dogs with people with disabilities free of charge to the recipient.

Training a service dog takes many months and thousands of dollars in veterinary care, trainer hours, and gear. Your $45 registration, your raffle tickets, and the sponsors standing on the lawn that morning are what make "no cost to the recipient" possible.

An Ohio 501(c)(3) nonprofit

The American Service Dog Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, EIN 86-2962306. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
